Coxhoe gets new cycling facility

A NEW virtual cycling studio has been launched at a village leisure centre.

An X-Biking Virtual Cycling Studio was unveiled at the Active Life Centre, in Coxhoe, near Durham, tonight (Wednesday, January 16).

The Trixter X-Bikes and accompanying technology allow people to pedal exercise bikes while watching videos of real world cycle rides, complete with stunning scenery.

Funding and support has been provided by the East Durham Leader, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and county councillors Mac Williams and Jan Blakey.

X-Biking instructor Neil Troutman launched the new facility with a masterclass tonight.

Community-run Future Leisure in Coxhoe saved the Linden Centre from closure under Durham County Council cuts and reopened building as the Active Life Centre in late 2011.
