Parking concerns in Teesdale village

COMPLAINTS have been made about poor parking in a picturesque Teesdale village.

Parish councillors in Whorlton, near Barnard Castle, were told cars were being parked on the pavement around the village green and on the road up to the main A67.

Parish council chairman David Kinch said while members appreciated that lorries needed space to use the narrow roads, consideration should be given to pedestrians.

“We are asking motorists to at least leave enough room for a wheelchair to get past their car on the pavement, otherwise they have to go out onto the road.”

In an effort to improve the situation, the problem is to be highlighted in the village newsletter.

If the problem persists, it will be brought to the attention of individual car owners.
