A TRIP to Australia prompted the arrival of an unusual snowy figure in one North-East garden.

The snow kangaroo was made by Aaron Gibson, 18, and his ten-year-old sister Megan yesterday. (Saturday, January 19)

It took the pair about four hours to create the animal in the front yard of the family home at Castle Close, Spennymoor, County Durham.

The Gibson family were inspired to create the sculpture after spending two years living in Richmond, near Sydney, in Australia, where the youngsters' father Barry Gibson was working.

Aaron said: “We lived in Australia for two years and we still have friends out there and I thought it would be a laugh to create a kangaroo.

“Some people have commented on it and one person took a photograph.”
