A CRICKET club is holding a 24-hour cricket marathon to raise money for new facilities.
Richmondshire Cricket Club's first Cricathon takes place on the weekend of February 16/17, from 10am on Saturday morning to 10am on Sunday.
The club has already received a Ministry of Defence grant towards the project, with plans to replace the current net facility with a modern four-lane net system.
It needs to raise more cash to meet the full cost of the project and hopes the Cricathon will play a large part.
Everyone taking part is asked to raise at least £20 in sponsorship or personal donation - and the person raising the most will be given a £100 voucher to be spent at Lorimer's specialist cricket shop in Bishop Auckland.
Provisional time slots have been allocated: 10am - 2pm: junior players; 2pm - 4pm: younger junior players and family members; 4pm - 6pm: younger junior players and family members; 6pm - 8pm: younger junior players and family members; 8pm - 12 midnight: parents and juniors; 12 midnight - 6am: Super Six senior tournament; 6am - 10am: juniors and any seniors still standing.
