A FERRYHILL care home entered the Burns' Day spirit by hosting a traditional Scottish open day.

HC-One Tenlands Care Home decided to celebrate the Scottish poet Robert Burns’ birthday to brighten up a wintery day for residents.

They enjoyed a traditional meal including haggis, neeps and tatties and toasted the poet with a glass of whisky.

Student Samantha Hall, who is studying drama and performing arts at Glasgow and whose mother Sandie Hall is a nurse at the home, provided entertainment.

Manager Victoria Lee said: “There was a really good atmosphere, the meal went down really well, they were up dancing round the tables and loved the traditional Scottish songs.”
