1:29pm Monday 4th February 2013 in News
WORK has begun on a £60,000 refurbishment of a popular Bishop Auckland recreation ground.
Councillors and representatives of Durham County Council met today (Monday, February 4) at the Pavilion on Bishop Auckland Recreation Ground, on Bob Hardisty Drive, to see how the work will benefit the site and those who use it.
There will be a range of improvements carried out on the public facility, which has tennis courts, a bowling green, football pitch and play equipment.
Some work has already taken place, including security shutters on the pavilion doors and windows.
The improvements have been funded by Durham county councillors Sam Zair and Neil Harrison through their neighbourhood budgets. It is also supported by Bishop Auckland and Shildon Area Action Partnership.
