People needed for housing scrutiny
2:18pm Monday 4th February 2013 in News
A SOCIAL landlord is seeking people to join a new scrutiny panel.
The Four Rivers Housing Group is setting up the eight-member panel in the Durham area and is looking for independent members.
Durham tenant Kath Henderson said: “Before becoming involved I was very interested to learn more about scrutiny and what it means to tenants.
“It’s great that tenants are able to get their views heard and influence the work of the organisation through their involvement in the panels.
“I am currently working in a team that is setting the panels up and will be meeting with potential panel members during the recruitment stage.”
The housing provider aims to recruit two independent members to work with the tenant members to provide feedback on its performance.
Dawn Keightley, Director of Operations, said: “You might live in the area we work in, you might have an interest in housing or you might be looking for a new opportunity to volunteer and help support people in these communities.
“Panel members should have the desire to make a difference in the social housing sector and the enthusiasm and willingness to listen to and represent tenants’ views.”
Anyone interested should e-mail graeme.tuckwell@4hg.co.uk or call 0191-525-6132. Information can be found at www.4hg.co.uk/scrutiny.aspx. The deadline for applications is February 22.
