BIG-hearted readers have been ensuring that stray and abandoned digs get the gift of love this Valentine’s Day.
Shoeboxes full of treats and toys have been flooding in to the Jerry Green Dog Rescue centre at Catton near Thirsk, following an appeal on these pages.
Staff at the centre say they have now received enough shoeboxes to give one to every dog in their care.
However dog lovers can continue to donate shoeboxes full of toys and treats as part of the Love Us, Love Our Dogs Valentine’s Day campaign until February 16.
Jerry Green Dog Rescue has five centres and is currently looking to rehome around 150 abandoned and unwanted dogs, all of whom need food and shelter as well as toys and the occasional treat.
