SPORTY youngsters have been kitted out in new netball strips after a social housing provider donated £400 to a team.
The pupils at Sunnydale Community College, Shildon, had been playing netball in an assortment of t-shirts and shorts.
But housing provider livin gave the college £400 via its communities fund to buy the team a matching strip.
Lisa Lumsden, assistant head of PE, said: “This allows our young people to feel that they are part of a team.
“We’re grateful to livin for providing the funding which allowed us to purchase a set of netball strips for our after school team.”
Michelle Postma, the extended schools co-ordinator who submitted the funding bid, said: “Working with livin helps provide opportunities for our young people that they would otherwise not be able to access.”
Alan Boddy, executive director people and communities for livin, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Sunnydale Community College.
“We would encourage more people to come forward and apply to the fund if they have an idea that could improve their community.”
