Durham writer Jane Shuttleworth will be giving a talk and reading from her book, Dostoevsky’s Russians, at the People’s Bookshop, The Attic, Sadler’s Yard, Durham City, at 6pm on Monday, February 18. The event, titled Everything is Permitted? Dostoevsky and Freedom, will explore the topic of Dostoevsky and freedom, using excerpts from his novels and from Ms Shuttleworth’s own book. HOUSE PLANS: A planning application has been submitted to Durham County Council seeking permission to build a detached dwelling on land next to the Old Vicarage in Monk Hesleden. A decision is pending.
PACT MEETING: A Police and Community Together (Pact) meeting will be held at the Blackhall Resource Centre in Blackhall from 6pm to 7pm on Wednesday January 13. A member of the neighbourhood policing team will be in attendance.
