Arts sessions help families get creative in Newton Aycliffe

A NEW project has been launched in Newton Aycliffe to encourage families to get creative.

The “Out of the Bag” arts and craft sessions will take place at three community centres in the town on the first weekend of the month for the next three months.

The project is funded by the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership and will see a creative practitioner work with families to encourage them to be creative together and to explore new ideas.

The first workshop will look at moving parts and different ways to use everyday materials. Families who attend will receive a free kit bag full of interesting materials and an ideas pack to encourage creativity outside of the sessions.

The workshops will be held on Saturday, March 2, at Woodham Community Centre, St Elizabeth Close, from 10am to noon, and at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, Greenfield Way, from 1.30pm to 3pm.

A session will also be held from 10am to noon on Sunday, March 3, at Agnew Community Centre, Morrison Close.

For more information and to book contact Greenfield Community and Arts Centre on 01325-379048, Agnew Community Centre on 01325-321504 or Woodham Community Centre on 01325-300258.
