MP calls public meeting after Mt Oswald vote

AN MP has called a public meeting to discuss how to respond to a controversial planning vote.

Durham City MP Roberta Blackman-Woods is to host a debate on Friday (February 22) to discuss possible next steps, after Durham County Council’s county planning committee approved Banks Property’s application for a £200m housing development on the city’s Mount Oswald golf course, off South Road.

The discussion will be held at St Oswald’s Church hall, on Church Street, Durham, on Friday at 5.30pm.

Following the vote earlier this month, Dr Blackman-Woods questioned whether the council’s planning setup was appropriate and said she would consider referring the decision to the Secretary of State or pursuing a judicial review.
