Painting on display as part of art project

YOUNGSTERS lost themselves in the magical world of Alice in Wonderland as part of a day of themed events at a Darlington art gallery.

A painting of Lewis Carroll at St Peter’s Rectory, in Croft, was unveiled at Crown Street Gallery, on Tuesday (February 19), as part of the BBC Your Paintings project.

Children enjoying the half-term holidays also took the chance to enjoy the workshops and activities held as part of the event.

Participants had a chance to draw their own version of the painting, as well as creating a large-scale collage of the Alice in Wonderland author, real name Charles Dodgson, who lived in Croft as a child.

There were also drama performances based on the popular novel.
