Barnard Castle Town Council agrees £145 grant for Witham Hall appeal
Barnard Castle Town Council has agreed to give a grant of £145 towards a £350,000 appeal to provide fixtures, fittings and specialist equipment at the town's Witham Hall, which is currently undergoing a £3.2m renovation. The appeal aims to provide everything from cups and saucers to electronic items for the new-look community complex, which is due to reopen later this year.
ART CLASS: Artist Linda Birch will be leading a masterclass at The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle on Friday, March 1. Taking food as the theme, she will help those taking part develop a piece of jewellery in the art nouveau style. The event runs from 10am to 4pm and costs £35 (£30 for Friends of the Bowes Museum). PLAYERS WANTED: Barnard Castle RUFC is on the look-out for new academy players aged six-16. Training takes place on Sunday mornings. Anyone interested should meet at the club in Birch Road, Barnard Castle, at 10am.
BOWLED OVER: Folk and country music fans will be bowled over when Donna Wilde performs at Crook Cricket Club on Tuesday, March 5. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Admission is £3 and includes supper.
WHIST DRIVE: Kirk Merrington Over-60s club is holding a whist and dominoes drive in the village hall on Saturday, March 2, starting at 2pm. Admission is £2 which includes refreshments.
