Durham AAP honoured for youth work

A COMMUNITY forum has been praised for its work with children.

Durham Area Action Partnership (AAP) has been awarded Investing in Children (IiC) status for facilitating discussions between young people and service providers.

Meetings involving the police and Durham County Council were arranged after children on Sherburn Road estate, Durham, complained they were being ignored.

Amanda Hopgood, the AAP chair, said: “We’re proud to be recognised by an organisation that has been working with some major institutions and is at the forefront of getting the voices of children heard.”

Robert Smith-Johnson, from IiC, presented the award at an AAP meeting on Wednesday (February 20).
