Delves Lane drugs bust

A MAN has been arrested after police seized and destroyed cannabis plants.

Officers made the discovery on Saturday ( March 2) at a house on Ford Street in the Delves Lane area of Consett.

Plants were discovered in an outbuilding, along with ground cannabis, and cannabis buds were seized from the house. A 50- year- old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and handed a police caution.

PC Nev Waller said: "I would encourage anyone who thinks they know someone involved in growing cannabis to come forward and let the police know.

“Rest assured we will act on your information. We will seize and destroy the drugs and the perpetrators will be arrested."

Anyone with information should call police on the non-emergency number, 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
