READY FOR TAKE-OFF: Miles the Pilot Bear and Oompa Loompa Sharon Munro, fundraiser for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, join staff members Tracey High, left, Pam Hamilton, centre, and Trudy Boyce visiting the Wilkinson’s store in Darlington
SWEET treats showered the streets of Darlington and Middlesbrough today as shoppers were offered the chance to win a golden ticket to a confectionary themed ball.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service’s Mascot, Miles the pilot bear, handed out sweets to shoppers and encouraged them to enter a draw to win tickets to the charity’s Candyland Ball.
The lucky golden ticket winner will be chauffeur driven to the fundraising ball, which is set to take place at the Marriott Gosforth Park hotel in Newcastle on Saturday June 15.
They will then be given the chance to enjoy a drinks reception, three-course meal and entertainment including a live band and disco.
The event will be hosted by ITV Tyne Tees news anchor Pam Royal and will also feature an auction and raffle. Edible table decorations will help to set the scene for the candy themed ball.
Ruth Davey, event organiser, said: “We are really excited about the ball and all the sweet treats we have in store for all our guests. As well as having a great night, we hope to raise plenty of money for the charity.”
Last year’s charity ball raised £15,977 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service. Tickets for this year’s event cost £60 and rooms at the hotel are available at a special rate for ball guests.
To win a golden ticket, visit the charity’s Facebook page at facebook.com/GNairambulance and share the Candyland Ball image. Alternatively, send a postcard to Golden Ticket, Great North Air Ambulance Service, Imperian Centre, Grange Road, Darlington, DL1 5NQ.
