“I haven’t had many singing lessons and performing at the school will provide me with experience.

“I’m looking forward to the regional heat of the competition. If I get through to the national final I’ll get to perform at the O2 Arena, in London.”

The teenager sang Maroon 5’s song 'She Will Be Loved' at an audition for the TeenStar challenge. The judges voted to send her through to the regional final.

That takes place is in two weeks' time in Newcastle when she will also sing Gabrielle’s 'Out Of Reach'.

Headteacher, Bill Kirtley, said: “She told us that she was in the competition and said it would be great if she could sing at the school.

“We’re very proud that someone from the school is doing so well. She will also be an inspiration to the children in the school.”
