Moscow State Circus bringing big top to Teesdale

THE world famous Moscow State Circus is coming to Teesdale.

In a first for Raby Castle, at Staindrop, the big top will be set up in the historic castle's grounds from August 28 to September 1.

The circus visit is the highlight of a programme of events at Raby Castle in the coming months, which begin during the Easter weekend with a treasure trail for children and activities on the lawn among the attractions.

The castle closes until the annual orchid show from May 4-6, followed by a display of Tudor Costume from May 8– 26, culminating in a Tudor fashion show on May 27.

On June 16, a popular classic vehicle show will be back and a new specialist plant fair takes place on June 30.

Raby Castle will host the first Taste of Teesdale festival in its grounds on July 21, as well as a family performance of Babe, the Sheep Pig, by Dick King-Smith, in the walled gardens on July 26. After the Moscow State Circus' visit, the season concludes with an autumn craft and food market on September 22.
