PUPILS stepped back in time to tell the tale of how Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered.

A Glint of Gold was performed by youngsters aged seven to nine from Barnard Prep School.

The play traces Howard Carter's famous discovery of the tomb in Egypt's Valley of the Kings.

As part of the school’s performing arts programme, 71 pupils spent seven weeks rehearsing a range of roles involving acting, singing and dance.

They then played to packed houses for three performances.

Head of drama and producer, Rebecca Robertson, said: “All the children worked hard to put on a fantastic performance.

“It is a treat to see young children working together confidently whilst so obviously having fun in the process.”

The show came just a week after a Have a Go concert, when all pupils were encouraged to entertain families with a variety of musical instruments.

And it followed hot on the heels of a visit from the Image Musical Theatre, a touring theatre company.
