A MARKET trader has been named runner up in a prestigious award.
Susan Platten’s business Crafty Nook, based in Durham Indoor Market, was runner up in the North East Craft Retailer of the Year category at the British Craft Awards 2013.
The awards are voted for by readers of the magazines Cardmaking and Papercraft and Quick Cards Made Easy.
Ms Platten said: “We were thrilled just to be nominated because it meant our customers had taken the time to enter Crafty Nook for the award.
“To be named runner up is a real surprise. We have to say a big thank you to everyone who nominated us. We’re really grateful.”
Colin Wilkes, managing director of Durham Markets, said: “Crafty Nook is an ever-popular stall here in the Market Place and we’re delighted that Susan has this award.”
The award was won by Samuel Taylors, a regional craft retailer with seven stores.
