Ferryhill woman sentenced for possessing knife in public place
A WOMAN who was found with a small lock knife in her car appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court today (Thursday, May 2).
Geraldine Amanda Wynn, of Darlington Road, Ferryhill, admitted there was a knife in her car when police pulled her over on Woodhouse Lane, Bishop Auckland, on January 1.
However, she denied possessing a knife in a public place, claiming she had bought it while helping a friend redecorate and had forgotten it was still in the car.
A trial date was set for April 26 but Wynn failed to show up and was found guilty in her absence.
The 33-year-old admitted she failed to surrender to court bail and received a 12-month conditional discharge for both offences.
