Ramblers head for Lake District
DURHAM Rambling Club will do two walks in the Lake District on Sunday, August 25. They will be Helvellyn from Glenridding, which is 12 miles, and Pooley Bridge to Glenridding,which is nine miles. CHARITY NIGHT: The armed forces charity Help for Heroes will benefit to the tune of £2,661.70 following a fundraising event at Aldin Grange Fishing Complex, near Bearpark, Durham. The event included a fishing match and an evening programme. It was organised following the killing of soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich, London, in May.
BUDGETING TIPS: A five-week Thrifty Families course offering budgeting tips is being planned for Bullion Lane Children’s Centre, Chester-le-Street, on Mondays from 9am to 11am. It is being run with Sunderland AFC and anyone who attends will get two free tickets to a Sunderland home league game. To book a place, call the Durham County Council-run centre on 03000-268643.
