Northallerton cancer charity has busy year

THE Northallerton fundraising committee for Macmillan Cancer Support have had a busy year raising almost £7,000 from a number of events.
The annual Ladies Lunch in April raised a record £2,215; Langton Farm refreshments in June raised £196; and a concert by the Swale Valley Stompers and Jazz in the Afternoon in July raised £1802.16.
On top of that an Open Garden Day raised £1,461 and the annual flag day in Northallerton High Street in August - with help from members of the Swale Valley Stompers - raised £1,273.
In addition the committee have been given cheques amounting to a further £2,655 including £435 from Hambleton District Council; £520 from a concert by Darlington Band and Northallerton College Band in May; £700 from a male voice choir concert in June and £1,000 from Northallerton Variety Company concerts in June.
The next events will be the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in Northallerton Town Hall on September 18 from 9am to 2pm and a return visit by North Country Theatre, presenting the comedy, The Lost World, on November 9 at the Forum in Northallerton, for which tickets are £10.
