Hitting the high notes during week of fun

THE sound of brass filled Chester-le-Street Market Place this afternoon (Thursday August 22).
A performance by the North East Concert Band was one of the attractions on the fourth day of the annual Market Place Activity Week.
Zumba, street dancing, an inflatable, an assault course and a climbing wall are some of the things that are keeping visitors entertained.
The event has been organised by local DurhamPolice PCSOs with backing from Chester-le-Track,the Chester-le-Street Business Association, JAK Publications and the Chester-le-Street and District Area Action Partnership (AAP).
AAP co-ordinator Andrew Megginson said the event was aimed at people of all ages.
Adrian Richards, of Chester-le-Street neighbourhood policing team, said: “This is the largest activity week we have organised so far.”
The last day of the event is tomorrow (Friday, August 23) between 10am and 3pm. Admission is free.
