Possible move for Coxhoe Post Office
2:16pm Thursday 22nd August 2013 in News
CUSTOMERS are to be consulted over plans to move a village post office.
The Post Office is considering plans to move its branch in Church Street, Coxhoe, to new premises 300-metres away in the Londis store in The Avenue.
Under the proposals, the new branch would be open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and from 8am to 7pm on Sundays, almost 60 hours-a-week more than the present site.
A six-week consultation process will now take place before a decision is reached on the proposed move.
Post Office regional network manager for Scotland and Northern England Suzanne Richardson said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Coxhoe and we are confident that this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."
She added: "The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes."
Consultation on the proposal will continue until October 4, with a move pencilled in for November.
Customers can take part in the consultation via the helpline 08457223-344 or an online questionnaire at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 23531399.
