Darlington Magistrates' Court round-up

THE following cases were heard by South Durham magistrates sitting at Darlington today (Tuesday, August 27):
DRINK DRIVE: Sarah Orchard, of Westmoreland Street, Darlington, was banned from driving for 20 months after she admitted drink driving. The 39-year-old was stopped by police on North Road in Darlington in the early hours of August 15 where she was found to have 85mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – the legal limit is 35mg. She was also ordered to pay a £140 fine, a £20 victim surcharge, £50 court costs and was offered the chance to complete a drink-driver’s rehabilitation course.
THEFT DENIED: Mark Anthony Jose, 39, of Oxford Street, Darlington, denied two charges of theft from a shop. He was granted conditional bail ahead of his trial on October 24 at Darlington Magistrates’ Court.
NO SHOWS: A warrant not backed with bail was issued for Claire Natalie Howell, 27, of Oxford Street, Darlington, who failed to appear at court to face one charge of theft from a shop. She is alleged to have stolen L’Oreal hair dye worth £5.99 from Semichem in Darlington on July 4.
Barry Hutchinson, 45, of Oxford Street, Darlington, also failed to appear to answer one charge of theft from a shop. He is alleged to have stolen £15 worth of Cadbury chocolate from a pound shop in Darlington on June 25. District Judge Adrian Lower issued a warrant not backed with bail for his arrest.
