Charity fundraiser to run Great North Run to boost cancer research
A FUNDRAISER is to run the Bupa Great North Run to raise money for cancer research as his mother and sister both died from the illness.
He aims to raise a thousand pounds for the charity. Coun Miller’s mother Eileen Miller and his sister Lynn Brisciano both died from cancer.
Coun Miller, 57, of Jubilee Crescent, Shildon, said: “I think that Macmillan’s is a fantastic cause and the charity does wonderful work for people with cancer.
“I’m looking forward to it and I’m taking part in training. I’m hoping to get dressed up in fancy dress and I’ll be carrying a bucket with me.
“I’d be pleased if I can get round the course in under two hours.”
The former caretaker of Timothy Hackworth Primary School, Shildon, will take part in the half marathon on Sunday, September 15.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Coun Miller can do so via 01388-417411.
