Workers team up to build path
WORKMATES have helped create a new path at a nature reserve.
Staff from EDF Energy’s call centre at Doxford Business Park, near Sunderland, built a new path at Rainton Meadows, near Houghton-le-Spring.
Bosses from Durham Wildlife Trust hope the new path will help more visitors explore the reserve and see more wildlife species.
People using wheelchairs and pushchairs will benefit most, with better access to the popular Joe’s Pond.
The volunteering was part of EDF’s Helping Hands programme.
Rachel Brooks, one of the team, said: “It’s really rewarding to know that the work we have completed will enable more people to get near the pond and see the fantastic wildlife that it attracts.
“We were determined to help out and delighted to be supporting Durham Wildlife Trust.”
Steve Purvis, from the Trust, said: “Their efforts will be extremely beneficial to our visitors and the new pathway will open up access to a wider range of people.”
