Store's security staff help catch youths selling alcohol to underage drinkers
SUPERMARKET security staff have been praised for their part in helping to catch two youths who were spotted selling alcohol to underage drinkers.
The pair, aged 18, were issued with fixed penalties after they were spotted on CCTV footage by security officers at the Tesco store in Newton Aycliffe exchanging bottles of alcohol for cash on the edge of a car park.
PCSO Gavin Laycock, of Newton Aycliffe Police, said: “The Tesco staff did not have to get involved, but they really helped us out.
“At a Pact meeting, we had complaints from residents about youths causing a nuisance, drinking and making a noise in the park near the store.
“Since these two were issued with fixed penalties, residents have said they have noticed an improvement in behaviour around there.
“I would just like to thank the Tesco security staff for their help.”
