Barnard Castle summer events conclude with teddy bears picnic
A TEDDY bears picnic brought the curtain down on a series of summer activities in Barnard Castle.
The event was held a week later than planned due to the threat of bad weather, but proved a popular attraction with families keen to meet Winnie the Pooh and Barney, the Honey Bear.
The picnic along with the events such as a medieval day and brass band performance, were organised by the town council for the new new-look Scar Top area next to the castle, which includes a performance area.
Councillor Thom Robinson said: “It was great that so many children visiting the town.
“They would have left with such a good positive fun memory of Barnard Castle.”
For the teddy bears picnic, the town council had provided marquees for shelter in case of rain. However the weather stayed dry and people started to congregate with their picnics from noon.
