Durham Ramblers plan two walks
DURHAM Ramblers will do a nine-mile walk in Hadrian’s Wall country on Sunday (September 8). The walk starts at 10.30am at a lay-by 300m north of Wall village, Northumberland, on the A6079, off the A69. For more information, call Roger Carpenter on 0191-3864511 or 07503-646233. DANCE CLUB: A Dance Your Socks Off children’s club for children aged three-and-a-half to six meets at Belmont Parish Hall, Belmont, Durham, on Mondays from 3.45pm to 4.30pm. ORGAN RECITAL: Charles Wooler, a former organ scholar at St Oswald’s Church, Durham, and now organist at St John the Baptist’s Church, in Newcastle, will give a recital at St Oswald’s on Saturday (September 7) at 7.30pm. The programme includes music by Bach, Purcell, Brahms, Mendelssohn and others. Tickets, priced £5, will be available at the door. Entry is free for children. The recital is part of a programme to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the church organ.
