Teesdale martial arts expert hosts group of South Korean Taekwondo students
A GROUP of Taekwondo students from South Korea enjoyed a week's visit to County Durham.
They were hosted by Butterknowle martial arts grand master Bryan Whiley and his wife Klara.
The group was led by Kim Min Ho, who stayed with Mr and Mrs Whiley when he was studying English language at Darlington College in 2000-01.
Mr Ho, who now runs a successful Taekwondo gym in his home country brought three of his students to experience life in Teesdale.
Mrs Whiley said they visited High Force, The Bowes Muserum and Durham Cathedral during their visit.
But wasn't all sightseeing.
“They also took part in a Taekwondo seminar held at Teesdale Sports centre, attended by students from Teesdale, Teesside and Lancashire,” she said.
With the group having returned home, Mr Whiley has begun preparations for a four week course, Gentle Martial Arts for adults of all ages.
This will combine elements of Taekwondo and Tai Chi to develop exercise and flexibility.
The course starts at Butterknowle Village Hall on Friday, September 27, from 10am to 11.30am and costs £15.
