Newton Aycliffe police launch CCTV database
POLICE in Newton Aycliffe are asking residents with security cameras to get in touch to allow the equipment to be entered into a CCTV database.
Video footage captured by cameras belonging to homeowners and businesses is often used by police to help solve crimes.
Newton Aycliffe Neighbour Police Team would like to create a database of CCTV in operation and, over the next few weeks, police and community support officers will be handing out leaflets across the town to encourage residents to get involved.
The team would like to know the name and address of the CCTV owner, the make and model of the equipment, the number of cameras and camera angles, and the length of time the footage remains on the hard drive before overwriting itself.
Information should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
