Sheena Maberly in concert
SOLOIST Sheena Maberly MBE and The Belmont Ladies Choir, conducted by Tony Harries, will give an autumn concert titled From Heartache to Happiness at St Nicholas’ Church, Durham Market Place, on Friday, September 27, in aid of Durham Christian Partnership’s work, which includes Durham Foodbank and the Cathedral Listening Service.
The concert starts at 7pm. Tickets priced in advance £6 for adults, or £4 for the unwaged and under 18s, are available from The Gateway Shop at St Nicholas’ Church or by calling 0191-3038623. The price on the door is £7 for adults, £5 for the unwaged and under 18s.
SUNDAY WALKS: Durham Rambling Club will do two walks around Helmsley on Sunday (September 22), of nine and 12 miles. Travel by coach with pick-ups around Durham costs £12. New members are welcome. For more information, call 07706-871812 or 0191-373-3429.
MISSPENT UKE: The Active Life Centre at Coxhoe will host a concert titled Misspent Uke on Wednesday (September 18) at 2pm. The concert will feature a variety of songs from Misspent Uke, accompanied mainly by ukuleles. Tickets are priced £4 including tea, coffee and biscuits. There will be a raffle during the interval.
WATERAID TOTAL: Soroptimist International Durham raised £510 for the charity Wateraid by holding a tea party. Organisers would like to thank all who helped make the event a success.
TWO WALKS: Durham Ramblers will do a nine-mile walk starting at Richmond Market Square on Sunday (September 22) at 10.30am. Call Richard Fletcher on 0191-3843193 or 07866-500573. CHARITY NIGHT: A charity concert featuring Murton Colliery Band will be held in Elvet Methodist Church, Old Elvet, Durham, on Saturday, October 26, at 7.30pm. Proceeds will go to the band and Masonic charities. Tickets, priced £10, can be booked by calling Lee Whitworth on 07793-252157.
