4:47pm Monday 16th September 2013 in News
A VILLAGE green group has hailed its environmental fair a great success.
The Ouston and Urpeth Conservation Group (OUCV) held the event on Saturday (September 14) in the grounds of Ouston Community Centre in Iris Crescent.
Various environmental-themed activities and crafts were on display.
Group chairwoman Thelma Murray said: “It was a great success, with well over 200 people dropping by and enjoying the demonstrations and activities.
“Children and adults alike particularly enjoyed making walking sticks, bird boxes and peddle bike smoothies, as well as weaving mini-hurdles from willow, making textile godseye wall-hangings and trying out a spinning wheel.
“Exhibitors also gave advice on waste management and recycling, ‘growing your own’, beekeeping and fair trade, while community centre groups provided refreshments, a cake stall and ‘messy play’ where children produced bunting for future events.
"OUCV thanks all those who helped make the afternoon a great event either by coming along or helping behind the scenes. "
