Club leek show a great success

FRAMWELLGATE Moor and Pity Me WMC in Durham holds its annual leek show presentation night on Saturday (September 21).
The event will be held at 7pm and will feature entertainment by the band Central Park.
It follows a successful show that attracted a good turn-out and a high standard of exhibits, The winner of the over-100 cubic inches category was was David Foster, with 206.83 cu ins. Second was Bob Beattie with 197.32 cu ins and third Harry Tisbury with 102.05 cu ins.
Bob Beattie also won best leek and best pair of leeks.
The Jeff Lodge Memorial Trophy for the longest leeks was won by David Foster and he was the overall winner of the flower and vegetable show for the second year running.
An auction of flowers raised £100, which will be donated to a heart rehabilitation unit.
