Better bus service for Brasside
A VILLAGE is enjoying an improved bus service.
Last year, Brasside, near Durham City, had its Arriva service cut to less than one bus per hour.
Durham County Council provided funding to ensure morning and school run services were protected.
Now Scarlet Band has stepped in to provide extra services, meaning between Arriva and Scarlet Band services residents can travel to and from Durham every half hour during the day on weekdays.
Arriva operates an hourly service during the day on Saturdays.
County councillor Amanda Hopgood said it was a significant improvement on last year and a step in the right direction.
Coun Mark Wilkes said it was really important residents used the service, while Coun Mamie Simmons said she wanted evening and Sunday services to resume.
