A KEENLY-CONTESTED quiz night saw £1,400 raised for St Teresa’s Hospice, in Darlington.
Ten teams from various businesses and organisations in the borough did battle in the annual quiz at Teesside University’s Darlington campus.
They included two teams from Darlington Borough Council, as well as the university, Niven architects, The Northern Echo and legal firms Latimer Hinks, Macks, Clark Willis, Clive Owen and Hewitts.
About £700 was raised through ticket sales and a raffle, which was doubled thanks to a matched funding offer by Barclay’s.
By the end of the night, The Northern Echo team was head-to-head with Macks, with the legal company sealing victory on a closely-fought tie-break.
Quizmaster Steve Rose said the evening had been a success.
He said: “We hold this event to give professional people in Darlington, who often lend their help, for free, to the hospice, a bit of fun.
“It is not meant to be hugely competitive, I like it when people can have a laugh and there is a relaxed atmosphere.”
