Alf Hind Big Band concert in Darlington
CONCERT: The Alf Hind Big Band will play at Northgate United Reformed Church, Darlington, on September 28.
The band was formed nearly 40 years ago by Alf Hind, a well-known figure on the Darlington music scene, who died in 2011.
It now boasts 20 musicians aged from teenagers up to their 70s and includes Mr Hind's son Nigel, who will perform a trumpet solo on the night.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door at £8, £5 for concessions, including refreshments.
VOLUNTEERING: Darlington Citizens Advice Bureau is holding an open morning on October 4 to recruit more volunteers.
The service is looking for new assessors and advisors and information about the roles will be available at the open event at the Horsemarket office between 10am and noon.

IONA: A band that has been together for more than two decades and toured the world will be performing in Darlington on October 5.
Iona will play at the King’s Centre on Whessoe Road supported by special guest Viv Neville.
Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost £15, or £12 concessions, available from www.iona.uk.com, The King's Centre, Guru Boutique on Blackwellgate and on the door on the night.
