Weight loss challenge launched in Newton Aycliffe

NEWTON Aycliffe Youth Centre on Burn Lane is holding is a 12-week weight loss course that offers group support, a personal wellness coach, nutritional information and cash prizes. The Weight Loss Challenge costs £39 and the first class is at noon on Friday, October 4. To register contact Jules Baxter on 07966968388 or the youth centre on 01325 307522.
CHURCH SERVICE: Newton Aycliffe Spiritualist Church will hold its next service at 7.30pm on Monday (October 30), at the Agnew Community Centre on Morrison Close in Woodham, near Newton Aycliffe. The visiting medium will be Thelma Lavender. Refreshments will be served.
JAMAICA VISIT: Bishop Auckland Methodist Church will be welcoming Bishop Auckland Theatre Hooligans and their friends from Jamaica for a service on Sunday (September 29), at 10.30am. All are welcome.
GARDEN SUPPORT: The second Bishop Auckland Garden Club show raised £400 for the Butterwick Hospice. More than 200 entries were received in 30 classes and the overall winner was Chris Tyrie. The next meeting of the group will take place in the Hospital Club, Escomb Road, on Tuesday (October 1), at 8.15pm.
RUG MAKING: The One Point Children’s Centre in Middleton-in-Teesdale is offering a course in rag rug making every Thursday, starting on October 3, between 9.30am and 11.30am. A crèche is available for a small charge of £1 per child. Transport may be available upon request at £1 per family. GIRLS SPORT: Football sessions for girls, aged 11 to 16, are being held at Teesdale Leisure Centre, on Wednesdays during term time, from 4pm to 5pm. Admission is £2 per session and those interested can turn up on the day.
ADVICE MEETING: Sedgefield and District Citizens Advice Bureau are holding an Annual General Meeting on Thursday, October 10, at 4pm in The Literary Institute, St Cuthbert's Terrace, Dean Bank, Ferryhill.
