Victorian scenes of the North-East to be displayed
A COLLECTION of Victorian paintings depicting the North-East will go on show this month.
The Samuel Tuke Richardson collection of original watercolours illustrates the region as it was in Victorian times.
The North-East countryside is a focus of many of the pieces by the renowned Darlington artist, who lived between 1846 and 1904.
The works will go on display at the centre for local studies in Darlington’s Crown Street Library in October.
Throughout the month, visitors to the library can see all of its Samuel Tuke Richardson collection, which incorporates paintings and prints.
A picture show and lecture about the works will be hosted by Jean Kirkland on Saturday October 19 from 1.30pm.
Tickets are £2 each and can be booked by calling 01325 349630.
