Funding on offer to help Sedgefield's sports stars reach the top
3:48pm Monday 30th September 2013 in News
YOUNG sports stars can apply for a bursary from Sedgefield Village Games committee to help them to develop their skills.
The group has a pot of money which it will share among sports players who are either from Sedgefield or who are members of sports clubs in the town.
The bursary is open to anyone aged up to 18-years-old and the committee will judge applications.
It is hoped to secure further grants and match funding to boost the amount of money available to hand out to youngsters.
Chris Lines, a games committee member, said: “We want to support the young people who come to us for funding.
“We want to run the bursary scheme for as long as we can replenish the pot of money.”
Ean Parsons, chairman of the games organising committee, said: “We are really ambitious for the youngsters in this community.
“We already have young people representing Great Britain in some sports and we hope that some of them will go all the way to the very top.”
Details on the bursary scheme can be obtained via Ean Parsons on 07771-828568 or at sedgefieldgames.com and facebook.com/sedgefieldvillagegames
