Durham organ recital
CHRISTOPHER Burrows, assistant organist at St Oswald’s Church, Church Street, Durham City, will give a recital celebrating 25 years of the church’s Peter Collins organ on Saturday (October 5) at 7.30pm. The programme is devoted to the music of JS Bach and includes the Toccata and Fugue in D minor, the Fantasia and Fugue in C minor and the Fantasia in G major. Tickets, priced £5 for adults and free for children and including light refreshments, will be available at the door.
PIANO RECITAL: Belmont Parish Hall, Broomside Lane, Belmont, Durham, will host the first of its autumn piano recitals on Thursday, October 10, at 2.30pm. Lithuanian Ugnius Pauliokonis will perform music by Scarletti, Rachmaninoff and Liszt. Tickets, priced £7, will be available at the door. TWO WALKS: Durham Ramblers will do an eight-mile walk around Rookhope on Sunday (October 6), celebrating WH Auden’s time in the area. The walk starts at 10.30am at the Rookhope Inn. CHARITY DAY: The Feed Warehouse, in Browney, near Durham, held a charity day in aid of Dogs for the Disabled on Saturday, September 21. The event raised £105.46 for the cause. Owner Sean Kell said he was only too happy to help.
