Choir dazzles Bishop Auckland pupils with African drumming

STUDENTS at a Bishop Auckland school got a taste of Africa as they tested out their music and dancing skills.
Members of the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir in Uganda performed a series of concerts at St John’s School and Sixth Form today (Tuesday, October 1) before holding workshops.
Year seven and eight pupils were joined by primary school youngsters at St Chad’s, St Wilfrid’s and St Anne’s to try out drumming, dancing and singing.
The choir are in the region raising money and also awareness of their lives.
Jacquie Holloway, of St John’s, said they also held an interesting question and answer session.
“It went extremely well,” she said. “They were asking really good questions.
“Everyone really enjoyed the workshops and we would love to do something like this again.”
The choir are due to hold a concert at the school tonight (Tuesday).
