Priorities outlined to improve Bishop Auckland
2:38pm Thursday 3rd October 2013 in News
ABOUT 35 people turned out in support of a community group aimed at rejuvenating Bishop Auckland town centre.
Bishop Auckland Town Centre was set up last year and has so far put on a number of events in the town and raised £20,000 to fund new Christmas lights.
However, in recent months the number of volunteers has dwindled so ahead of the meeting on Tuesday (October 1) night the committee issued a plea for residents and traders to show their support.
Speaking at the meeting, Dave Hunter, chairman of the town team, said: “This is about how we can make this town great again and how we can move forward.
“What has gone has gone but we are not going to lose this place. If we are making it a better place the people will come and spend. People still like to come into our town.”
The group decided to concentrate on three main priorities on over the coming months – advertising, parking and cleaning up the town.
