Deadline looms for community healthcare project funding bids
10:39am Saturday 5th October 2013 in News
VOLUNTARY and community groups in Darlington have just a few days left to bid for funds in a Dragon’s Den style project.
Darlington Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which is responsible for most health services in the town, has offered local organisations the chance to win support from the Community Innovation Fund.
The CCG has a pot of £50,000 available to the voluntary sector in the town to pitch their ideas for small schemes that could improve the health and well-being of people in Darlington.
The groups will go before a panel of ‘Dragons’, including local GPs.
The projects must be linked to the CCG’s strategic objectives, which can be found at darlingtonccg.nhs.uk. Applications will be accepted from community groups, clubs and societies, voluntary sector organisations, registered charities, schools, parish and town councils, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations.
Andrea Jones, chairman of Darlington CCG, said: “There are many fantastic and imaginative voluntary and community organisations in Darlington and this is a wonderful opportunity for us as a CCG to find out more about the difference they make to the lives of local people. “This is an exciting area of development for the CCG, working closely with our partners to nurture great ideas into practical and inspiring enterprises that can improve the health and wellbeing of people living in Darlington.”
Projects can bid for funds from £2,500 to £25,000 and must be received by October 14. For further information, contact email@example.com or Hannah Stout on 0191-374-4225.
