THERE was a fruity flavour at a monthly farmers market on Saturday.
To mark National Apple Day, which takes place on Monday, October 21, the Love Food project held a series of apple-themed events in Barnard Castle to coincide with market day.
Dozens of visitors took part in apple-bobbing, apple pressing, a treasure hunt for apple-related items at the farmers market and children’s activities.
There was also an apple identification expert in attendance and participants tucked into apple crumbles, toffee apples, apple juice and a hog roast with apple sauce.
