WORK to investigate the cause of a landslip which damaged a country road is nearing completion.
Two-way traffic lights have been in place on the C131 road between Bridgehill and Allensford since February when the highway was damaged by a landslip.
The damage took place on a bend in woods near to Allensford Caravan Park.
Brian Buckley, strategic highways manager at Durham County Council, said: "We are currently investigating the cause of the landslip which resulted in the damage to this road.
"We need to understand why the landslip occurred so that we can develop an effective solution to the problem.
"The investigations are nearing completion and we are aiming to start work as soon as possible."
