Charity offers support and advice to young people in Darlington
4:47pm Monday 7th October 2013 in News
YOUNG carers in Darlington are to receive vital support from one of the North East’s largest charities.
Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities (Disc), an independent charity that aims to promote social inclusion, will provide information to people under 25 who care for a member of their family.
The Darlington service will provide carers breaks such as driving lessons or gym memberships, as well as one-to-one chats to discuss their problems and set goals for the future.
They can also attend group meetings which will give them a chance to get to know other young people in similar situations.
Disc also offers training to agencies in Darlington, including schools and youth centres, to raise awareness about young carers and identify those who could access support.
